HISTORY
R. C. Stevens Construction Co. is one of Florida’s oldest and most experienced construction leaders. Founded in 1926 by builder/architect Raymond C. Stevens, the company has earned wide recognition as a full-service Design-Builder, Construction Manager, and General Contractor specializing in commercial, healthcare, and process/manufacturing projects.
A pioneer of the Design-Build process, Ray Stevens was the first builder in Orlando to both design and construct projects for his clients. In those early years, he earned high respect for his integrity, innovation, keen sense of quality, and the ability to handle it all. In the ’20s and ’30s, Stevens entered the industrial market to design and build fresh fruit packinghouses, citrus processing plants, and bulk storage structures, as well as to do general commercial construction work for ice-making and refrigerated buildings, using cork as insulation.
Throughout the ’60s and ’70s, under R. C. Stevens’s son Allyn’s leadership, the Stevenses were instrumental in designing and building hundreds of healthcare, commercial, and industrial projects. The company enhanced its time-honored reputation of providing quality and cost-effective projects for its clients through the ’80s and ’90s. In 1993, as part of a business continuation plan, Dave Smith and Tim Keating were named President and Vice President, respectively. This leadership team accelerated the company’s growth with larger projects such as a citrus processing plant for Sunkist in Tipton, CA and U.S. Sugar’s citrus processing plant — Southern Gardens down in Clewiston, FL.
As R. C. Stevens Construction Co. enjoys its ninth decade, the mission and vision remain constant under the leadership of third-generation President, Tim Keating. In April 2022, R. C. Stevens joined The Cianbro Companies. Cianbro is 100% employee-owned organization that ranks in ENR’s Top 100 U.S. Construction Firms. With R. C. Stevens, the company employs more than 4,000 team members operating in 40+ states. Cianbro performs work in diverse construction markets including industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure, power and energy, and building.
Tim remains steadfast in his desire to maintain the culture and spirit of innovation at R. C. Stevens while growing and joining a family where team members share ownership and continue to strive daily to uphold the traditions of quality and integrity.
The combined strength and resources of Cianbro enhances R. C. Stevens abilities to serve our valued customers with the same dedication to quality and integrity you’ve come to expect from us.
